Although points were hard to come by for Williams Racing in 2019, former Formula 2 Champion George Russell showed flashes of future stardom as a 21-year-old rookie. Robert Kubica, who won the Canadian Grand Prix in 2008, was promoted from reserve driver to take the second seat. The team announced in September that 2019 Formula 2 Championship runner-up Nicholas Latifi would replace Kubica in 2020.
